Counterbalance forklifts are the most common type of forklift truck in warehouse logistics. Unlike standard forklifts, counterbalance trucks offset their front load by having all the weight at the back. This allows heavier loads to be transported more safely.
Benefits of Counterbalanced Forklifts
Besides their superior stability and safety, counterbalanced trucks have a number of other benefits. They can be used on stable and even surfaces, whether inside or outside. Counterbalance trucks also have smooth handling systems and are easy to operate, allowing for efficient and cost effective movement.
A counterbalanced lift truck is most appropriate when attachments, cross-docking and dock-to-stock runs are required. They are versatile and reliable in a variety of situations, especially in narrow aisle warehouses.
Types of Counterbalance Forklifts
A counterbalance forklift can come in three-wheel models or four-wheel models. We stock both types to allow for the greatest range of choice. The three-wheel counterbalance forklift is more manoeuvrable. It is best suited to tighter spaces and operating in aisles.
The four-wheel counterbalance is sturdier and can be used outside in a yard, for example. We also offer electric, diesel and LPG gas models in our large selection of counterbalance forklifts. Diesel counterbalance forklifts are usually bigger in size and heavier that other options. This is because they are specifically designed and built for dependable performance in any kind of application. Generally, these forklifts are used outside because they have enough power to cope with any challenge of the outdoor conditions.
Alternatively, there are LPG counterbalance trucks whose construction is flexible enough for both indoor and outdoor usage. This is why LPG forklifts are usually considered to be a perfect alternative to regular diesel, as they can provide the required power and torque with minimal emissions and ideal fuel economy.
Electric counterbalance forklifts have lower running and maintenance costs, but typically have a higher up-front cost. More efficient and kinder to the environment, electric forklifts continue to be a popular choice for many warehouse operators.
